In anticipation of a 2019 reconstruction of 900 South, between Lincoln Street and 1300 East, Salt Lake City’s Transportation and Engineering Divisions are testing two temporary intersection designs at the 900 South, 1100 East, and Gilmer Drive intersection.

The temporary intersections, known as “pop-ups”, will use materials like traffic cones to simulate two proposed reconfigurations.

Salt Lake City & County Building seismic upgrades are now complete

The seismic upgrade work for the iconic Salt Lake City & County Building is now complete. A receiving system consisting of 16 tons of reinforcing steel, 285 cubic yards of concrete, and several new structural steel members was installed in less than a year.  Prior to constructing the new shoulder walls, crews removed more than 706 tons of existing foundation stone originally installed when the building was constructed in the 1890s.
