City Volunteer Opportunities Abound in July
    
SALT LAKE CITY – July marks the middle of summer and the heat is on! Enjoy the warmth of summer at outdoor volunteer projects that help to maintain the natural beauty of the Capital City. Residents looking for a fun volunteer opportunity for themselves,their families or a group, can make arrangements through Salt Lake City Volunteer Coordinator Savannah Wake at savannah.wake@slcgov.com or 801-535-6202.

Groups Needed for Summer Parks, Trails, and Garden Projects
One thing that makes Salt Lake City a great place to live, work and play is the abundance of trees, parks, trails, gardens and natural areas. Groups of all ages can lend a hand with keeping these well-loved areas in great shape. Two to four hour projects are available for individuals and groups of up to 100 people and take place during the weekday, in the evenings, and on weekends. All supplies, tools, and instruction are provided, no experience is necessary. 7/12-7/27: Grand Opening of the New SLC Public Safety Building
Volunteers are needed to help celebrate the grand opening of the new Salt Lake City Public Safety Building. This stunning facility located at 300 East and 500 South will be home to SLC Police and Fire Departments, the City’s Emergency Operation Center and the new, combined 911 dispatch. The building will be open to the public July 20-27 and volunteers can help to greet and guide visitors. Shifts are available between 9 a.m.-8 p.m. each day, no experience is necessary and all training will be provided. 7/13: Jordan River Clean Up
The Jordan River Commission is recruiting volunteers to help clean up the Jordan River and Parkway Trail. Cleanup locations vary from Draper to North Salt Lake and projects occur on the second Saturday and fourth Wednesday during the summer months. July and August: Twilight Concert Series
Volunteer for one of Salt Lake City's most spectacular summer events - the Twilight Concert Series at downtown Salt Lake City’s Pioneer Park. Help with beverage sales, box office, gate greeting, trash control, and production. Shifts are available Wed, Thurs, and Fri of each concert week and concerts run from July 11-August 29. Administrative Volunteer Opportunity for the SLC Fire Department
Interested in getting a behind the scenes look at Utah's busiest fire department? Volunteers are needed in the administrative offices to help with secretarial functions and other projects related to the department’s move to the new Public Safety Building. Shifts are available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-noon. A background check is required for this position.
