City Plows Will Operate All Night to Aid Monday Commute

SALT LAKE CITY – All 45 City snowplows are currently working to clear streets citywide and will be operating throughout the night. Public Services Director Rick Graham reports crews have been challenged by fast accumulations and a heavy, wet snow falling on already frozen roadways. Main roads, arterials and collector routes are the current priority and, depending on overnight weather, plows may not be able to move into residential areas until Monday morning. City officials advise residents to plan extra time for morning commutes.

Salt Lake City International Airport spokeswoman Barbara Gann reports the airport is open and operating, however, runways will be closed intermittently to allow for ongoing snow removal. Travelers should expect some delays, cancellations and diversions. Airport officials advise all travelers to contact carriers for statuses of individual flights.
