This
sprawling, 7,145-yard test (from the tips) has a
distinctive, Scottish flavor and linksland character
with rolling mounds, native grasses resembling Scottish
straw, wildflowers and bountiful bunkering. In
addition to its links look, Wingpointe features several
large lakes and acres of wetlands that flocks of ducks
and gaggles of geese. Water comes into play on 12
of the 18 holes, adding to the challenge and intrigue
that has distinguished Wingpointe as a top course since
opening in 1990. Wingpointe has twice been voted
one of the Top 5 golf courses in Utah by Golf
Magazine and was named one of the state's top 2
public-access courses by Golf Digest.
Wingpointe
is renowned among Salt Lake City courses for its large
pro shop and practice facilities. Its driving
range is one of the city's busiest and largest, and
features carefully measured flagsticks to provide
targets for those sharpening their ball-striking and
distance-control skills. Unlimited Magazine
rated Wingpointe's driving range as the fourth best in
the country. Because of its lowland location near
the Salt Lake City Airport, Wingpointe is open 10-11
months of the year. The course also hosts the Utah
Buy.com tournament qualifying.
