Welcome to the Salt Lake City Arts Council

Announcements

Visitors to the Art Barn have noticed recent construction activity in Reservoir Park. The Department of Public Utilities is filling in the no-longer-in-use reservoir and will finish the resulting green space with such amenities as trees and benches. The historic wall along 1300 East will be also be restored.  For more details on this project, click here.

Flying Objects 2.0 are now on exhibit downtown. Click here for a tour and a map.

The 2009-2010 Guest Writers Series season schedule is now available. Click here for a listing of nationally-acclaimed writers reading from their work. For a detailed description of the writers and their work, click here.

Art in Transit, the public art program for the Utah Transit Authority (UTA) and partnering organizations, announces an opportunity for public art commissions on the North Temple TRAX line that will connect Salt Lake City to the Salt Lake City International Airport.

Art in Transit will award five commissions, one at each of the light rail stations to be built along North Temple, the street that connects downtown to the Airport. The commission for public art at the Airport station will be issued in mid January 2010. Art in Transit is managed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council in partnership with UTA.
