Utah Clean Fuel - Clean Air License Plate (C Plate)

If you have a Utah Clean Fuel - Clean Air license plate (C Plate) displayed on your vehicle you can park for free at Salt Lake City parking meters - your special license plate acts as your parking permit. Please note that you are still required to comply with posted time limits and other parking restrictions. This special license plate also allows single occupant vehicles to use the Express/HOV Lanes for free.

C Plates are obtained from the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles but a vehicle owner must first obtain a C Plate Permit from UDOT. Applications for C Plate Permits are available online. Alternatively, you can call or stop by UDOT in person to get a copy of the application. The phone number and address are listed below.

There is no fee for obtaining a C Plate Permit from UDOT but the number of permits is limited. Successful permit applicants are then eligible to purchase a Clean Fuel - Clean Air License Plate (C Plate) from the Utah Department of Motor Vehicles for an annual fee of $15.
