Bicycle Licensing

The State of Utah and Salt Lake City require all bicycles to be licensed. See Utah Code Section 11-21-1 and SLC Code 12.80.010 and 5.18.030. The purpose of the license is to assist an owner recover his or her bicycle if stolen. Bicycle licenses can be obtained at any of our fourteen Salt Lake City fire stations or at the Salt Lake City Police Department located at 315 East 200 South between the hours of 8 AM and 3 PM, Monday-Friday. Go to the front desk and ask about bicycle licensing and someone will be called to help you. Make sure to bring your bicycle and a picture ID. A bicycle license costs $2.00.
