Mayor Biskupski joins hundreds of mayors opposing Clean Power Plan repeal

Today, Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski joined more than 200 mayors from across the United States to express her support for the Clean Power Plan (CPP) – an essential public health protection and climate change solution that sets the first ever federal limits on carbon pollution from power plants and helps cities transition to a clean energy economy. The Trump Administration is trying to repeal the CPP in spite of support from mayors, state leaders and state businesses.

Temporary suspension saves fuel and emissions during period of extremely low demand
 

Salt Lake City is reminding residents of the six-week suspension of compost can collection beginning the week of January 22.

Each winter, the City temporarily suspends collection of the brown yard waste containers during a period of very low use, in order to save fuel costs and reduce air pollution during wintertime inversion weeks.

Salt Lake City announces temporary compost can suspension; also, how to dispose of holiday trees

To conserve resources and reduce air pollution, Salt Lake City’s Waste & Recycling Division (formerly Sanitation Division) will temporarily suspend the collection of brown yard waste cans from January 23 through March 10, 2017.

Demand for yard waste collection is low at this time, and suspending services will result in:
