with Allied Waste to collect recyclables from an estimated
45,000
residential homes, and 1,100 small businesses and multi-family
complexes every day, five days per week. An average of
900
tons of material are recycled each month.

"Contaminants" = Unacceptable Items
Placing unacceptable items in your recycling
container can affect everything else in the recycling truck
and increase the cost of this program. If we find
unacceptable items in your container, it may not get serviced.
About 250 tons of unacceptable materials are
collected in our curbside bins every month. If you see a
contaminated recycling bin, please email us at
slcstreets@slcgov.com.
