Salt Lake City Seeks Public Input on Transit Station Area Zoning District Improvements

SALT LAKE CITY – The Salt Lake City Planning Division will host an open house on Thursday, July 28, from 4:30 to 6PM at the Salt Lake City and County Building, to educate the public and get input on changes being drafted for the Transit Station Area (TSA) Zoning District. Input is also being gathered via a survey on Open City Hall at http://www.peakdemocracy.com/3835.

The TSA Zoning District is located on North Temple between 400 West and the Airport, and on 400 South between 200 East and 900 East. The TSA Zoning Improvement project is a review of the TSA zoning district to address issues and concerns that have been identified as development projects have been reviewed, approved, and built.

Goals of the project include:

  • Improving the zoning standards to address issues with building scale, ground floor uses, building design, and building materials;
  • Improving the development guidelines to further incentivize affordable housing, green building design, and energy efficiency;
  • Establishing a higher threshold used to determine if projects can be approved administratively; and
  • Clarifying the land uses that are allowed in the zoning district.

A summary of the changes being considered for the TSA zone is located at http://www.slcdocs.com/Planning/Projects/Current%20Initiatives/TSAChangesConsideredJuly20.pdf.
