RDA Releases RFP for Community Services-Oriented Development of Central Ninth Property

The Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City (RDA) today released the “Request for Proposals” (RFP) for its property located at 208 West 900 South, the heart of the Central Ninth neighborhood in the West Temple Gateway Project Area. The 0.4-acre parcel is one of two remaining development opportunities in this highly connected neighborhood just south of Downtown Salt Lake City. It is adjacent to the 900 South TRAX Station and a UTA bus stop, as well as being in close proximity to several UTA bus routes, Interstate 15, and the 9-Line bicycle and pedestrian corridor.

Through the RFP, the RDA is inviting developers to submit proposals to purchase the property, and design and construct a Community Services-oriented development. Based on the RDA’s West Temple Gateway strategic plan, the development of its properties in Central Ninth will contribute significantly to an active neighborhood center that exemplifies high-quality design, integrates the 900 South TRAX station, and complements the character and vision of the Central Ninth neighborhood. The full RFP can be accessed at www.slcrda.com.

“Community involvement has been identified by Central Ninth’s residents and business owners as one of the area’s most important qualities,” said Lisa Adams, Salt Lake City councilwoman and RDA chair. “We are looking forward to partnering with a developer to further support the activation of this up-and-coming neighborhood.”

A Developer Information Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 24 at 4 p.m. at Publik Coffee Roasters, located at 975 West Temple. This meeting provides the opportunity for prospective developers to ask questions regarding the land and the RFP.

The Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City seeks to implement Salt Lake City’s development plans, enhance property values, and build community through high-quality urban design, vibrant public spaces, and incentives for private investment.
