Mapping

Mapping services are provided by Geographic Information Systems (GIS) staff and City Survey staff. GIS data layers, aerial photography, survey Atlas plats, and interactive map services are accessible from this website.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
A geographic information system is sophisticated computer mapping software that links information describing something with its location. GIS is used in many diverse ways, from developing highly accurate citywide base maps, to performing complex analysis and modeling.

The SLC Engineering GIS staff is responsible for developing and maintaining the Salt Lake City base map as well as all city GIS data outside of public utilities and the airport. Examples of this data include: aerial photography, city blocks, city streets, parcels, certified addressing, pavement management, street intersections, council districts, rivers, and many other data layers.
Further information is available from Eric Bernkopf at eric.bernkopf@slcgov.com or (801) 535-7249.

City Survey
Survey monument locations and other public way survey information can be obtained from the City Surveyor’s Office.  Further information is available from Lynn Curt at lynn.curt@slcgov.com or (801) 535-7973.
