Public Invited to Depot District Workshop

Residents Invited to Explore Future of Salt Lake City’s Depot District

Workshop encourages public input for a vibrant, new downtown gathering place

SALT LAKE CITY – Residents are invited to participate in a public workshop exploring the future of the City’s Depot District – the area between South Temple and 500 South and 700 and 400 West. The workshop will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Utah Transit Authority Offices, 200 S. 669 West, Salt Lake City. The presentation will begin promptly at 5 p.m.

The workshop is intended to give residents an opportunity to have a voice in transforming the Depot District area into a vibrant center. The center will give people new living choices consistent with market demand, revitalize an area close to downtown, enhance City revenues to keep taxes low and provide a new gathering place for residents.

“Development of the Depot District supports the ideals of a livable, sustainable community and region,” said Mayor Ralph Becker. “Well planned mixed-use and transit-oriented design will foster positive connections for our residents, businesses and visitors.”

To reserve a spot at the workshop, please call (801) 303-1459 or email MDavies@envisionutah.org.

Beginning Feb. 2, those unable to attend the workshop will have the opportunity to review the overall effort and complete an important online survey at www.wasatchchoice2040.com.
