Night Out Against Crime
The National Night Out Against Crime
will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2006. The Salt Lake City Police
Department is sponsoring two events in the City that evening. One
event will be held at the Pioneer Precinct, 1040 West 700 South, and
the other will be held at Liberty Park Northeast Pavilion, 600 East
1000 South.
The purpose is to heighten crime awareness, encourage drug
prevention and neighborhood spirit and build partnerships within the
community and strengthen participation in anti-crime programs. This
sends an important message to criminals that neighborhoods are
getting organized and united against crime.
There will be a parade that begins at 5:00 p.m. at 1179 South Navajo
Street and end at the Pioneer Precinct. This parade is an annual
event and is lots of fun.
There will be food, drink and entertainment at both locations from
5:00 to 8:00 p.m. We would like to invite everyone to attend the
event closest to them and join us in the fun.

Bank Robbery - First Security Bank at 1773 West North Temple
The Salt Lake City Police Department
is seeking help in identifying a robbery suspect.
The robbery occurred on Friday, 21 July 2006, at 1773 West North
Temple, at about 2:32 PM. The suspect entered the First Security
Bank and said he had a gun, although it was not seen. He demanded
that cash be placed into a gym bag. He left the area in an older,
black Corvette with green or dark colored Colorado license
plates.
The suspect is described as a white male in his 30’s, 6’1”
- 6’2” with a skinny build, wearing a light-colored, striped,
button-down dress shirt, faded blue jeans, a tan baseball cap, and
red/black/white tennis shoes. He was carrying a dark brown or
reddish gym bag. He had several days’ growth of beard.
The suspect had entered the bank on the previous day, 20 July 2006,
at about 4:00 PM. On that day, he made inquiries about opening an
account, then left.

conviction of the suspect.

Days of ‘47 Parade Route
With the Days of ’47 Parade, one of
the oldest and largest in the U.S. just around the corner with its
colorful floats, horses, clowns, and history, here is a reminder of
the Public Parade Regulations in order to have a fun and safe
celebration.
3.50.240 Regulations For Public Property
Adjacent To Event Routes:
The following shall apply
to public property adjoining routes and staging areas for authorized
commercially related special events or free expression activities
and it shall be unlawful for any person to violate these provisions:
A. Time Restrictions:
Before eight o’clock (8:00) P.M. of the day before the
authorized commercially related special event or free expression
activity, no person shall actually claim or attempt to claim,
reserve, occupy or otherwise control public property either in
person or by the placement of any object. Prohibited claiming
activities include, but are not limited to, the placement of
ropes, chairs, blankets, banners or vehicles or barriers of any
kind.
B. Reserving Public Space: From and after eight o’clock
(8:00) P.M. of the day before an authorized commercially related
special event or free expression activity, a person may physically
occupy a position on public property and may use a blanket,
sleeping bag or chair to reserve the position for that person
only. No person may reserve a space for anyone other than himself
or herself. No person may claim or attempt to reserve any public
property for himself or herself or others by placement of ropes,
tents, barricades or other barriers.
C. Enclosed Shelters Prohibited: No person shall
place, erect, use or employ any tent or other enclosed shelters,
including vehicles or trailers, on public property along the route
or staging areas of any authorized commercially related special
event or free expression activity at any time.
D. Obstruction Of Public rights Of Way: No person
shall obstruct public sidewalks, paved portions of streets, or
occupy any unsafe position or occupy a position which may cause
damage to public or private property.
E. Vehicle Parking Restrictions: From and after eight
o’clock (8:00) P.M. of the day before an authorized commercially
related special event or free expression activity and continuing
until the conclusion of the event, no person shall park a motor
vehicle, or trailer or tent trailer on the streets designated by
the city as a route for an authorized commercially related special
event or free expression activity. Only motor vehicles or trailers
which are entries or parts thereof in an authorized commercially
related special event or free expression activity are allowed to
be in the areas designated as staging areas. Any vehicle, motor
vehicle, trailer or tent trailer parked in violation of this
section is a public nuisance and may be towed from the prohibited
area at the owner’s expense.
F. Reserved Spectator Viewing Areas: As part of the
permit process, the mayor or the mayor’s designee may
authorize:
1. The city to reserve places for the observation of an authorized
commercially related special event or free expression activity and
to erect and control seating on such reserved public property;
and
2. The permit holder to reserve areas for observation of an
authorized commercially related special event or free expression
activity and to erect and control seating in the reserved
areas.
G. Dogs Prohibited: From and after eight o’clock
(8:00) P.M. of the night before an authorized commercially related
special event or free expression activity all dogs, except for
service animals and dogs who are actually part of the authorized
commercially related special event or free expression activity
shall be prohibited on public property along the route and staging
areas whether or not such dogs are leashed. This subsection shall
not prohibit the owners of dogs who live adjacent to the route
from taking their leashed dogs on walks to and from their property
using the most direct route away from the route. “Service
animals” referred to in this subsection shall mean any dog
specially trained to accompany the blind, visually handicapped,
hearing impaired, or otherwise physically disabled person. (Ord.

Police Seek Help in Identifying Victim of Auto-Pedestrian Accident
The Salt Lake City Police Department
is seeking help from the public in identifying the victim of an
auto-pedestrian accident that occurred on Tuesday, 18 July 2006, at
the intersection of 700 East 900 South. At about 6:39 P.M., the
pedestrian was crossing westbound on 700 East and was struck by a
vehicle. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where she remains
in extremely critical condition. The pedestrian had no form of
identification in her possession. The Police Department has
exhausted all means of identifying her.
The victim is a white female, 22 to 25 years old, 5’5” and
approx. 145 lbs, with long brown wavy hair.

$15,000
Reward Announced in Missing Child Case
The Salt Lake City Police Department
and The FBI would like to announce that a $15,000 reward has been
offered for the safe return of Destiny Anne Norton or for
information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person
responsible for her disappearance. The reward money was donated by
Meadow Gold, which provided $10,000, and The Carole Sund /
Carrington Foundation, which provided $5,000.
Destiny Norton was reported missing from Salt Lake City at
about 8:40 PM, on July 16th, 2006. She is a 5 year-old female white,
3’6”, 45 – 50 lbs., blond hair with green streaks, wearing a
long-sleeved, black T-shirt. She has silver teeth in the
front.
Anybody who has any information which could lead to Destiny’s
location or who has any information about the case is asked to call

REWARD!!!
Destiny Norton Missing Child
The Salt Lake City Police
Department and the FBI (Unified Command) are requesting the public's
assistance regarding the missing and endangered child Destiny
Norton.
Destiny Norton is a 5 year-old female white who was last seen
in the area of 700 South 500 East on the evening of Sunday, July
16th, 2006 at about 8:30 PM.
Destiny is five years old, 3'6", 45-50 lbs, short blonde hair
with green streaks in the back, wearing only a long, adult sized,
black T-shirt with gray stripes on it.
The Unified Command would like to remind the public that any
information in this case is greatly appreciated.
If anyone knows anything about this case, please call the TIPS
FOR CASH hotline at (801) 799-INFO (799-4636). A cash
reward is being offered for information that leads to the resolution
of this case.
At this time, cash rewards are being gathered by Salt Lake City

The Salt Lake City Police
Department is looking for a ‘Person of Interest’ in a missing
child case from the area of 700 South 500 East.
At approx 8:30 p.m. last night Sunday, July 16, 2006, a five year
old girl had a argument with her parents and left her home. The
missing girl is named Destiny Norton (see attached photo),
3’6”, 45-50lbs, blonde hair with a green streak through the back
of it, last seen wearing a black adult sized t-shirt with grey
stripes.
Police are looking for Sevkija
Ferhatovic, 51 years old, 5’, 160 lbs, dark hair, and wears
glasses (please see attached photo). Ferhatovic was stopped
by officers in the area of 700 South 500 East last night shortly
after Destiny Norton left her home. He was released, but information
developed since that time leads investigators to believe that
Ferhatovic needs to be interviewed again.
Anyone with information about Sevkija Ferhatovic or the
whereabouts of Destiny Norton is asked to call Salt Lake City Police

Homicide Suspect Identified
Salt Lake City Police Department has
identified the suspect in a shooting that occurred at 4:02 a.m. this
morning at 250 South 500 West.
A 35 year old male was killed by the suspect and a female was shot
in the shoulder.
Detectives are looking for Anthony
Zinnerman (see attached booking photos), 2-14-68, AKA
“Z” and “Bubba”, Male Black, 6’4”, 240 lbs, has a
gold front tooth. Zinnerman has several tattoos to include “Allah
Inspire Me”, “praying hands”, and “Grandma rest in Peace”.
The suspect was dressed in a white t-shirt with a red tank top over
it and red shorts when the shooting occurred.
Zinnerman is possibly driving a newer silver colored Chevy 4 door
sedan and is considered armed and dangerous.

Suspect Sought in Assault Near Vortex Night Club
The Salt Lake City Police Department
is seeking to identify a person whose image was captured in a
surveillance video in West Valley City. The man in the video was
possibly involved in an assault which left a man in critical
condition in a local hospital. The victim remains in critical
condition with a severe head injury.
The suspect seen in the video attempted to use the assault victim’s
ATM card in a West Valley convenience store. He appears to be a male
black adult.
The assault occurred on the night of June 14th or the early morning
of June 15th, just west of the Vortex night club located at 404 S
West Temple. The victim William M.
Freeman was involved in an altercation with a group of males,
and was found a short time later severely injured.
The assault suspect is described as a male black adult in his
twenty’s, who may be driving a red or orange Dodge/Plymouth
Neon.

is looking for three suspects involved in the shooting death of
Tevita Finau David Vaenuku, which occurred on July 4, 2006, at 1841

Carl's Jr. Restaurant Robbery
The Salt Lake City Police Department
is investigating the robbery of a “Carl’s Jr.” restaurant
located at 1235 East 2100 South. The robbery occurred at 10:05 AM on
Monday, 3 July, 2006. A lone white male adult entered the store
brandishing a silver handgun. He ordered all the occupants to the
floor and took money. He left northbound on foot, carrying the
stolen money in a black duffel bag or back pack.
The suspect is described as a male white adult in his early
20’s, 6’1” wearing loose fitting jeans, a black hooded
sweatshirt, a dark colored ball cap, wearing sunglasses and gloves. See
attached surveillance photos.
