On Monday, February 25, Salt Lake City Police detectives acted on information that two individuals were illegally possessing and intended to sell numerous firearms.

Detectives pooled their resources, and drew upon expertise from the Burglary Squad, City Gang Squad, and the Fusion Division.

Detectives conducted an exhaustive investigation, ultimately resulting in the arrest of two people.

Arrested were: 22-year-old Boyd Oman and 53-year-old Kerry McNeely, both of Salt Lake City. Oman and McNeely were booked into jail on multiple felony counts of being a restricted person in possession of a firearm. Officers recovered a total of nine firearms, including: rifles, shotguns and handguns.

Through the combined efforts and proactive work of many officers, guns were potentially kept out of the hands of dangerous criminals. The Salt Lake City Police Department strives to work with the community to help increase the safety of our residents and visitors to our city.
