About North Temple

North Temple Street is a city-owned arterial street that runs east to west from State Street to approximately 2400 West. At its western end, at I-215, North Temple splits into two different roads, a local street that terminates at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) property and an onramp for Interstate 80 and Bangerter Highway with access to the airport.

The North Temple study area extends from 400 West (the eastern end of the North Temple viaduct) to 2200 West (along the onramp) which is a total of approximately 2.7 miles. The land use analysis will include the immediate block both north and south of North Temple (to 200 North and South Temple Street respectively). The study area is transected by three major roads: I-15, Redwood Road, and I-215. The interstates pass over North Temple on viaducts and no access is available from North Temple. North Temple and Redwood Road, a state highway, intersect at a fully controlled intersection.

In 2009, construction started on the Airport Light Rail Line. North Temple will be under construction from now until the line is finished, in late 2012 or early 2013.  The city anticipates having a Master Plan adopted prior to the completion of the line in order to help with future land use related decisions.  Check back often for updates on the planning process.
