Community Councils

Each of Salt Lake City's 21 districts has a neighborhood Community Council. These organizations provide advice to City officials and are directly engaged with identifying community priorities and working on problem-solving. Getting involved with your neighborhood council is one of the best, and easiest, ways to make a difference and advocate for important, local issues. And, you get to know your neighbors along the way.

Neighborhood Preparedness Program

This multi-faceted program trains residents for the best responses to a variety of emergency situations. The program includes opportunities for training, public education and volunteering.

Youth City Government

Civic involvement isn't just for adults. This program is designed to engage Salt Lake City high school students, aged 13-17 in their communities. Students get experience in active participation in their communties and local government.

Boards and Commissions

Salt Lake City government relies heavily on citizen participation and particularly on those who volunteer their time to serve on the various boards and commissions. These bodies bring excellence and experience together to aid in the creation and implementation of public policy. Have a passion for books? Wondering how to put that art history degree to work?
