While the City does not have authority to enforce business ADA compliance, the City does have an interest in helping businesses to understand the ADA.  In addition, the City has oversight of business compliance with local building code which has adopted ADA standards as they have have emerged over time.  To submit a complaint about new construction not meeting building code or unauthorized alterations to existing facilities, please contact the Coordinator for Disability Rights (ADA Coordinator).

ADA Information

The U.S. Justice Department provides several resources for businesses at the ADA Business Connection Website.  Documents such as the "Guide for Small Business" (pdf) and the guide on "Readily Achievable Barrier Removal" (pdf) provide a good foundation for business accessibility.  Visit the ADA Business Connection website for additional information.

Disability Friendly Business Program

The "Disability Friendly Business Program," offered through the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce, provides information on becoming a business with a focus on being accessible to customers with disabilities.  Proudly display your Disability Friendly Business window decal to your customers.
