Yolanda Francisco-Nez, Coordinator
The Mayor's Office of Diversity provides outreach to the many diverse communities in the city. This office works to provide bias-free services to these groups regardless of age, ancestry, color, disability, gender, national origin, marital status, medical condition, physical limitation, race, religion, or sexual orientation. Some of these communities include, but are not limited to, Asian, African, Hispanic / Latino, Pacific Islander, Native American, and refugees from the around the world. The Office of Diversity also encourages members from these diverse communities to become involved in their communities through service on community councils and City boards and commissions.
The Office of Diversity is working to make Salt Lake City a bias-free city, known for its appreciation and respect for its diverse population, and free of prejudice, bigotry, and discrimination. The Office provides leadership and support in eliminating discrimination and prejudice through efforts that foster neighborhoods where all residents are valued and treated with dignity and respect.
This will be accomplished by acting as a liaison between diverse communities and city government by actively reaching out to diverse populations to increase awareness of government resources and the means to use them.
