What we do. . .

Serve residents

The Mayor's Office of Diversity serves residents of Salt Lake City’s diverse communities.  These include but are not limited to:  Asian, Black, Hispanic/Latino, Native American, and Pacific Island populations. It also includes refugees from around the world, women, members of various religions and persons with diverse lifestyles.

Provide referrals

We serve your needs by providing linkages and referrals to city departments and programs which assist in enriching your life as well as problem solving.  We also provide information on county and state programs, as well as private efforts, that may be of assistance to you.

Encourage participation in city government

The Office of Diversity also encourages active participation in your city government. We do this by . . .

  • Meeting with diverse groups to identify concerns
  • Meeting with city officials to address concerns
  • Increase awareness of government resources
  • Encourage growth of diverse community organizations
  • Encourage participation on City boards and commissions
  • Maintain a list of resources in the community

Value diversity

We welcome and value diversity. We respect all residents and encourage all Salt Lake City residents to value and respect one another.
