Community Council: Attend community council meetings
where people participate in city government at a community level by
discussing issues with their neighbors.
Boards and Commissions: Apply for positions on Salt Lake City
boards and commissions. From the Art Design Board to the Utah
Transit Authority, you can participate in many different areas of
local government.

Crime Prevention: Help decrease the crime rate in your community
by learning from the Salt Lake City Police Department how to prevent
crime. Contribute with your own ideas.
Environment: Learn about the various ways in which Salt Lake
City works to ensure sustainability of our communities. Raise
awareness of what people can do and all that is being done to
protect our air, water, and open space.
Neighborhood Watch: Assist neighbors and the Salt Lake City
Police Department in making neighborhoods safe by joining a
neighborhood watch group.
Email the Mayor and the City Council: Write comments,
suggestions, and complaints to the Mayor and the City Council.
Youth City Government: High school students participate in city
government and learn how it functions.
Internships: Serve an internship in the Mayor's office. Become
acquainted with how Salt Lake City government functions.
