Mayor to Present 2014 State of the City at University of Utah
SALT LAKE CITY – The public is invited to join Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker for his 2014 presentation of the State of the City Address on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at noon in the Varsity Room on the 6th floor of the Rice-Eccles Stadium & Tower, 451 S. 1400 East.

For the first time in Salt Lake City history, Mayor Becker is breaking with tradition by taking his annual speech out of the Salt Lake City & County Building and on the road to the University of Utah for a presentation that will focus on the single biggest challenge facing our community.

“By moving the speech to a venue with a magnificent view of our Capital City, I want to underscore the importance of the topic I will be highlighting this year," said Mayor Becker. "I think when Salt Lake City residents hear the focus of the speech, they will agree it is the most pressing issue facing our community today."

Attendees will have a chance to visit and chat with Mayor Becker at an informal reception following the speech.

All attendees are encouraged to utilize public transit to travel to the event. Rice-Eccles Stadium is easily reached by TRAX service and multiple UTA bus routes. For schedule details, visit

A media-only briefing will be held at 11:30 a.m. at the venue. A complete text of the speech and support materials will also be made available.
