Mayor Becker to Lead 19,000-Member National League of Cities

SALT LAKE CITY – This Saturday, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker will become President of the National League of Cities (NLC). During the Mayor's year-long term as leader of the organization he will lead the 19,000 U.S. cities who are NLC members. Mayor Becker's inauguration will take place at the end of an action-packed week in Austin, Texas at the NLC's 2014 Congress of Cities.

A detailed schedule of the Mayor's speaking engagements and meeting activities is available below.

Mayor Becker’s week of NLC acitivities will culminate when he presents his goals for his Presidency at an induction ceremony at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22. The mayor’s platform will be focused on a theme of “connecting” and will prioritize bringing the full political might of its 19,000 member cities to bear on important federal issues, working to connect member cities with financial, intellectual and political resources and launching new, nationwide programming to re-connect children with the natural world and the benefits that come with the knowledge and experience of outdoor environments.
