GIS
efforts within the city are divided among four groups:
Engineering
Seven member team responsible for
developing and maintaining all city GIS maps, data, and information
outside of public utilities and the airport. These include: the blocks
basemap, city street centerline map, parcels, certified addressing,
pavement management, street intersections, council districts, rivers,
canals, and numerous other map layers.

Public Utilities
Responsible for developing and
maintaining GIS maps and data concerning the water utility
infrastructure within both the city and Salt Lake County. GIS efforts
within the city were first undertaken by Public Utilities.

GIS Design and Development Team
Four member team
consisting of Engineering and Information Management Services employees
that prioritize, design, and develop GIS compatible applications for the
efficient storage, retrieval and presentation of various city
information. In addition to disseminating advances within the GIS
industry throughout the city, the team also trains city employees in
using GIS related applications and tools.

Airport
Responsible for creating and maintaining
GIS maps and data concerning access to the Salt Lake City International
Airport, facilities within the airport, concourses and runway.
