After
TEN years of continuous service a firefighter
can compete for: |

|
Firefighter Captain |
|
If a firefighter has an associate degree (or higher degree) from an accredited college or university, he or she may test for promotion after completion of nine (9) years of service as a firefighter with the Fire Department. |

|
|
After
FIFTEEN years of minimum service and TWO years of service
as a Captain a firefighter can compete for: |
|
|
Battalion Chief |
|
If the Captain has an associate degree from an accredited college or university, he or she may test for promotion after completion of fourteen (14) years of service as a firefighter with the Fire Department. |
|
If the Captain has a bachelors degree (or higher degree) from an accredited college or university, he or she may test for promotion after completion of thirteen (13) years of service as a firefighter with the Fire Department. |
