Visible Contaminants

If you have been cited for having visible contaminants from a vehicle you were driving, you have the following options.

1. Pay the fine amount of: $300.00

2. Obtain a recommendation for Dismissal Compliance form from the Salt Lake County Health Department. Drivers of vehicles which have been found in violation of visible emissions regulations of the traffic code related to emissions must meet the following conditions prior to receiving a recommendation for dismissal of their citation.

a. An inspection of repairs must be made within 14 days. Call Ray Jacobs at 313-6726 before that time for the required appointment.

b. Contact with the Salt Lake City Justice Court within 14 days or a late fee will be assessed.

c. Dismissal will not be recommended if you have received two vehicle emissions citations within six months.

d. Upon recommendation for dismissal, the vehicle compliance form provided by the Health department and a copy of the citation must be taken to the Salt Lake City Justice Court with the required time limit.

3. The Salt Lake County Health Department and also issue a recommendation for Dismissal with proof the vehicle has been sold as salvage. Contact Ray Jacobs at 313-6726 for more information.
