Registration and Driver's License Citation (traffic)

Every vehicle at all times while being driven, stopped or parked upon the streets or alleys of this city, shall (1) be registered in the name of the owner thereof in accordance with the laws of the state, unless such vehicle is not required by the laws of Utah to be registered in this state; (2) display in proper position two valid, unexpired registration plates, one on the front and one on the rear of such vehicle; and (3) when required, current validation or indicia of registration attached to the rear plate and in a manner complying with the laws of the state of Utah, and free from defacement, mutilation, grease and other obscuring matters, so as to be plainly visible and legible at all times. However, if such vehicle is not required to be registered in this state, and the indicia of registration issued by another state, territory, possession or district of the United States, or of a foreign country, substantially complies with the provisions hereof, such registration shall be considered as compliance with this code.

State law requires that vehicle registration and driver licenses be changed to the State of Utah within sixty days of moving or accepting employment in the State.

When registering a vehicle in the State of Utah, you are required to show proof of insurance at the time of the safety inspection and emission test.

The following are reduction policies on first citation only.

12.28.020a- Driving without Utah Registration-Registered out of state with proof of valid registration we will reduce the fine to $250.00

12.28.020a- Improper display of Stickers and Visibility of Plates this includes no front plate, plate not attached to the vehicle, and not having stickers properly displayed on rear plate. We will reduce to $10.00 if plate is attached or sticker is affixed with proof of registration issued prior to the citation date.

12.28.020a- Expired Registration - We will clear the citation for $25.00 with proof the vehicle is now registered.

Please send in the proper payment with a copy of the registration within the time allowed on the citation.

Drivers License

The following are reduction policies on a first citation only.

12.24.010- No valid drivers license on person. We will dismiss this violation with a copy of a valid drivers license issued prior to the date of citation.

12.24.011a- Never obtained a license. We will clear the citation for $75.00 with proof of current drivers license.

12.24.115- Suspended Drivers License. We will clear the citation for $150.00 with proof of drivers license being reinstated.
