Salt Lake City Council Selects Attorney to look at Main Street Plaza Issue

            The Salt Lake City Council has named John Martinez as legal counsel to review the Main Street Plaza issue from a City Council perspective.  Martinez has been a professor at the University of Utah College of Law since 1984.

            “Since the City Council originally voted in favor of both the easement and the restrictions associated with the easement when it voted to close a portion of Main Street in 1999, the City Council wants to have a clear understanding of any potential Council role in addressing this very important community issue,” City Council Chairman David L. Buhler said.

             “We have selected Professor Martinez due to his expertise in local government law and property law.  This combination of expertise makes him uniquely qualified to evaluate this issue,” Buhler said.
