The City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah, met in Regular Session on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in Room 315, City Council Chambers, City County Building, 451 South State.

 

     The following Council Members were present:

 

          Carlton Christensen    Van Turner      Eric Jergensen

Jill Remington Love    Nancy Saxton        Dave Buhler   

     Dale Lambert

 

     Mayor Ross C. “Rocky” Anderson; Edwin Rutan, City Attorney; Cindy Gust-Jenson, Executive Council Director; and Pam Johnson, Deputy City Recorder were present.

 

     Councilmember Love presided at and Councilmember Lambert conducted the meeting.

 


#1.   The Council led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

#2.   Councilmember Jergensen moved and Councilmember Christensen seconded to approve the minutes of the Salt Lake City Council meeting held May 4, 2004, which motion carried, all members voted aye.

COMMENTS TO THE CITY COUNCIL

    

     Robin Douglas, Renee Shaw, Peggy Harper, Anne Albaugh, James C. Torgerson, Raine Bowen, Tim Greenhalgh and Philo Allen spoke in support of sidewalk entertainers and artists in the downtown area.

 

Douglas Cotant thanked the Salt Lake City Police Department for their hard work.  He said additional officers should patrol City streets.

 

Glen Ballard and Pat Peterson spoke concerning the loss of City services with the proposed elimination of the City’s concrete replacement crew.

 

CONSENT AGENDA

 

Councilmember Buhler moved and Councilmember Christensen seconded to adopt the consent agenda, which motion carried, all members voted aye.

 

#1.   RE:  Setting the date of June 1, 2004, at 7:00 p.m. to accept public comment and consider adopting an ordinance repealing and reenacting Chapter 14.38, of the Salt Lake City Code, relating to sidewalk entertainers and artists.

#2.   RE:  Setting the date of June 1, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. to accept public comment and consider adopting an ordinance closing and abandoning a portion of an alley located in Block 6 of Highland Park Plat B Subdivision, pursuant to Petition No. 400-04-03.
