Audio/video City Council public hearing announcement

The Salt Lake City Council holds public hearings to find out what the community thinks about certain issues.  Your input helps the Council to hear all sides to an issue before making a decision.

The City Council invites you to attend two public hearings scheduled for Tuesday, March 9 at 7:00 pm and welcomes your input:

1.     A proposal to close a portion of the city-owned right of way that exists between the public sidewalk and the front of the buildings at 866 and 858 West South Temple that would be included into the new South Temple Red Iguana location, potentially later used for outdoor dining.
(Proposed ordinance/Petition No. PLNPCM2009-01132)

2.   The Council invites the public to comment on the Fiscal Year 2011 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and rel federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funding programs.  Each year the federal government allocates money to Salt Lake City based on the percentage of low-income population.  This information is determined by the National Census and therefore will be updated this year.  The City then allocates this federal money out to various non-profit institutions that provide housing, counseling, health or other services that assist the low-income communities of Salt Lake City.  The City can also allocate this money to capital projects in low-income areas such as streets and parks.  The Council will be finalizing these allocations in late March.
