District 4 Proposed Parking Ordinance

August 1, 2008

Shared/Alternative/Off-Street Parking Ordinance

The Council completed discussion and adopted an ordinance amending Section 21A.62.040, Salt Lake City Code, Zoning, pertaining to off-street parking and loading requirements, the schedule of shared parking and minimum off-street parking requirements, land use definitions, and Permitted and Conditional Uses for Residential Districts and Commercial Districts (Petition No. 400-02-22). One of the goals in amending the parking requirements was to lift the burden on neighborhood businesses, and further stimulate the development of neighborhood commercial districts. The Council also requested that the Administration develop a comprehensive program to mitigate neighborhood commercial business district parking spillover impacts into residential neighborhoods.

The original ordinance reviewed during the meeting can be viewed by clicking here; however, there were changes made to the proposed ordinance during the meeting. These changes will be represented in the final ordinance, which will be ready for viewing within the next few weeks. Upon completion, staff will ensure to include a link to the final document from the weekly email update.
