In preparation to host the 2012 Euro Cup Soccer Championships, representatives from Donetsk and Dneipetrovosk, two of the selected host cities of Ukraine, visited Salt Lake City to learn how Salt Lake City prepared for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Information was exchanged about what is involved in hosting an international event.
Salt Lake City Council Member Carlton Christensen served
on the City Council when Salt Lake City was awarded as the host City of
the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and during the Olympics. He was
pleased to share how the City prepared for the Olympic Games. John
Sittner, who was the director of the Salt Lake City's Olympic planning,
participated in the information exchange to share his knowledge and expertise.
