Community Celebration and Ribbon Cutting for the Bridge
Over Barriers Project
On
September 30, 2009, Salt Lake City Council Member Carlton Christensen
joined the community for a celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony for the
Bridge Over Barriers Project, located under the Interstate 15 bridge at
approximately 300 North/700 West. The road serves as an arterial
connection for the Jackson and Guadalupe neighborhoods and is the dividing
line between the two neighborhoods. The name "Bridge Over Barriers"
bridges and connects the two neighborhoods.
The project represents the personalities, cultures and lives of the
surrounding communities through beautiful tile mosaic murals created by
artists and community volunteers. The completion of 16 columns of tile
mosaic brings the community together at the celebration. The artists
and volunteers who worked diligently to complete the project were recognized
as the community celebrates, welcomes and embraces the project which is
truly reflective of the neighborhoods.
