District 1 - Carlton Christensen,
Chair
 |
Elected in November 2005 for a third term, Carlton J.
Christensen took the oath of office on January 3, 2006 as
the representative of Council District One. Carlton
currently serves as the Chair for the Salt Lake City
Council, and also served as Council Chair for the years 2000
and 2003 and as Council Vice-Chair for 1998, 2002, and 2008.
Carlton formerly served as an ex-officio member of the
Board of Trustees for the
Downtown Alliance as well as prior service as Chair of
the
Redevelopment Agency of Salt Lake City in 2006 and 2007.
He also served on the Board of Directors for the
Utah League of Cities & Towns from 1999 to 2001.

On November 2, 2009,
a group of medical professionals from Salt Lake
City’s Sister/Friendship City Izhevsk, Russia met with Council Members
Carlton Christesnsen and JT Martin.
