Holiday Parking

Payment for parking downtown will continue at the normal rate ($2.00/hour for a maximum of 4 hours) during the holidays.  Parking payment hours at the pay stations are 8 AM to 8 PM (Monday – Friday), Saturdays free parking for 2 hours, and Sundays parking is free all day.  The City will not be covering or taking the pay stations off line during the holiday season and parking enforcement will be conducting normal operations.  

   

Adding Time

There have been some recent inquiries about “adding time” on a parking pay station.  Please refer to the step-by-step instructions below on the pay station usage:

Beginning Use

  1. Once a stall is chosen, make note of the space number assigned to that stall and locate the nearest Blue Pay Station with a P on the top.
  2. Begin by entering that space number.   Once you have entered the correct space number, push the green "Enter" button.
  3. Choose the method of payment you will be using:

Credit Card Use

  1. After entering and confirming the correct space number, place your credit card in the card reader and quickly remove the credit card as the display indicates.
  2. Next, add the desired amount of time by pressing the blue "Add Time" button once to add one, (1) hour or twice for the maximum allowable parking time of two, ( 2) hours.  After adding the desired amount of time press the green "Enter" button to confirm your payment.

Coin Use

  1. After entering and confirming correct space number, deposit the appropriate amount of change in the coin slot for the amount of time desired.
  2. After the coins have been deposited for the amount of time desired, press the green "Enter" button to confirm payment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  1. Please wait for your receipt and take it. (There is no need to display the receipt in your vehicle.)
  2. Remember, the maximum time limit is 2 hours.  All Pay Stations and meters are enforced Monday - Friday from 800 AM - 800PM except on legal, City observed Holidays.
As you can see by the instructions, when making an initial purchase using a credit card you utilize the “Add Time” button to set the time you wish to purchase.  If you press the button once you will receive 1 hour and twice for 2 hours.  If you are using coins all you do is deposit the coins, watch the display that will show you the amount of time you have purchased, and once you have reached the amount of time you require you then press the enter button.  The amount of time per coin is approximately 25 cents = 7 minutes ($2.00/hour).    
 
Please understand that the purchase of time can only occur at the time of initial purchase and once a purchase has been completed you cannot add time without losing what you originally purchased.  For example if you initially purchase 1 hour for $2.00 but then do an additional purchase for the same space number thirty minutes into your original purchase you would lose the amount of time/money that was remaining and your time would restart from the time of the second purchase.  The only way you can purchase additional time without losing your original purchase would be to wait until your time expired or to use the pay-by-phone application which allows you to add time to a space up to 2 hours.  
 
Also as a reminder, per city ordinance you cannot park more than 2 hours in any pay station parking space or 2 hour time zone.
