Hear Our Voices: Girls In Technology

Women will be the majority of the work force within the next ten years. Unfortunately, they are often systematically excluded from the critical areas of mathematics, science, and technology. Recognizing that women are under-represented in the technology field, the Sorenson Multi-Cultural Center’s Intel Computer Clubhouse targeted programming specifically for young women. In March 2003, the Sorenson Computer Clubhouse was awarded the Hear Our Voices (HOV) grant through the Boston Museum of Science. The programming support and funding provided by HOV greatly assists in our goal of attaining equal membership and participation between young females and males. HOV supports current Girl’s Night activities, career workshops and special field trips. HOV provides young women with the opportunity to express themselves through technology and help build self-esteem.
