Examples of some location restrictions
for Brew Pubs, Taverns, and Private Clubs
These examples are provide as general
information only and may not reflect the current ordinance.
There are no parks, schools or churches (state ordinance
includes libraries) within close proximity, 600 feet. Please
check the ordinance for the latest restrictions. To read the

Interior St. is not a major street.
North, South, West, and East St. (starting at South St.) are
major streets.
Note: The area from South St. north and West St. west is in
District A.
District A
Example 1: There are three (3) establishments on North St.
(a major street) between East and West St. A Brew Pub and
Taverns 1 and 2. The two (2) Taverns have Class C beer
licenses. Two (2) is the maximum number of Class C beer or
private club licenses allowed on the block. (Ref.
6.08.120A1) The Brew Pub has a Class F license and one
(1) Brew Pub is allow on this block. (Ref.
6.08.084B)
Note: Both the Brew Pub and Tavern #2
located on North St. are Corner Establishments. Under the
definition of Corner Establishments, they have the greatest
number of front footage abutting North St., so they count as
being on North St. even though their address may not be
listed as North St.
Example 2: There are two (2) establishments on East St. (a
major street) between North and South St. A Private Club and
a Tavern. Two (2) is the maximum number of such
establishments allowed on this block
Example 3: There are two (2) establishments on Interior St.
(this is not a major street, but is in District A), Private
Clubs 1 and 2. They are allowed on this non major street
after meeting all the requirements of the ordinance. (Ref.
6.08.120C) Two (2) is the maximum number of such
establishments allowed on this block
Example 4: There are no establishments on West St. between
North and South St. or on South St. between West and East
St. A maximum of two (2) establishments with either a Class
C beer or private club license or some combinations there of
would be allowed on each lineal block. (Ref.
6.08.120A1)
District A: Two (2) licensed
establishments per lineal block.
A "lineal block" means both sides of a major street between
two (2) intersecting major streets.
District B: One per six hundred sixty feet (660').
District C: One per two thousand feet (2,000').
Corner Establishment: having abutting front footage on two
(2) major streets shall be included in the lineal block in
which the establishment has the greatest number of front
footage abutting the major street.
Exceptions for interior of blocks and non major streets (6.08.120C).
Some of the requirements are:
1. Approval from Hearing Officer.
2. Recommendations from Planning Division and Police
Department.
3. Interior street is at least 60 feet wide or entrance is
from a courtyard or mall-like area.
4. Total number of establishments on the block will not
exceed 9.
5. A public hearing.
Districts B and C locations are based on
proximity to other establishments.
District B requires that either a Class C beer or private
club be located at least six hundred sixty feet (660') from
another licensed establishment
District C requires that either a Class C beer or private
club be located at least two thousand feet (2,000') from
another licensed establishment.
Note: The measurement is from the nearest point on the
property line of one establishment to the nearest point on
the property line of the other establishment. There can be
no parks, schools or churches (state ordinance includes
libraries) within close proximity, 600 feet.
