School Day Program
The Living Traditions School Day Program, which occurs before the festival opens to the public, gives area elementary students from several school districts the opportunity to experience authentic cultural expressions on-site at the Festival. Learning about these cultural traditions helps them to appreciate and respect the history, diversity and heritage of their community. Each year, between two and three thousand elementary students from several school districts participate in this program, sponsored by the Educational Equity Unit of the Utah State Office of Education.
Scheduled on Friday morning, the School Day Program includes teacher workbooks for the teachers to use in preparing the students, active participation by the students on-site, and follow-up activities in the classroom.
