Living Traditions Craft Demonstrators
The Crafts Demonstrators at the 2008 Living Traditions Festival offer the opportunity to meet and talk with artisans who share the intricacies of their art as they create it. Each year, craft artists are invited to demonstrate their work and talk about the tradition that drives them to create. Collectively these artists show how any folk group—whether ethnic, national, rural, religious, or occupational—produces items that are treasured by fellow community members for their beauty and rich heritage. Individually, these artists remind us that there are often unrecognized but highly trained traditional artists in our neighborhoods who work in art forms that take many years to master.
