Watershed Education Program Fact Sheet

Program Objectives

  • Educate public about the importance of our local protected watershed areas and the positive impact they can have on their drinking water supply
  • Motivate the public to become good stewards of these protected watersheds

Canyon Signs

  • Attractive new format with useful recreation information
  • Combination of area highlights and watershed regulation information
  • Located at 47 area trailheads and parking lots

School Curriculum

  • Developed under the approval of the Utah State Board of Education
  • Created with a panel of working teachers
  • Will first appear in the classroom during the 2004/05 school year
  • Designed to supplement the existing section on water
  • Includes a Teacher’s Guide and Student Workbook
  • Will be taught to 4th and 9th grade students

  • Slogan: “Keep It Pure”
  • Integrates mountains and drinking water
  • Simple and recognizable
  • On all program materials and canyon signs
  • Wherever it appears in the canyons indicates a “protected watershed area”
