Historical Background

Dell Canyon is rich in history. This area was part of a major emigration trail to the west. The first group of pioneers to travel through the area was the Donner-Reed Party in 1846. The Mormon Pioneers who settled in the Salt Lake Valley used the trail from 1847 to 1860. The trail was also the Pony Express trail from 1860 to 1861. Native Americans also frequented the area for thousands of years.

How do I get to Affleck Park ?

From exit 134 on I-80 go north on State Highway 65 for six miles. If you're coming from Emigration Canyon follow the canyon road all the way to Highway 65, then turn north.

Speed Limit & Safety

Recreation area speed limit is 15 mph for all motorized and non-motorized travel (including bicycles). Failure to observe bicycle and vehicle speed restrictions may result in citations and serious injury. Drive, Bike, Run and Walk Safely!
