Welcome to the Salt Lake City Transportation Division

The Transportation Division mission is to provide a safe and efficient multi-modal transportation system for the movement of people and goods and for the vitality of the community.

What we do

The Transportation Division is responsible for the determination of necessity and the placement of all traffic control devices on Salt Lake City streets.

Traffic control devices are signs, markings, signals, lighting and other devices used to guide, control, and inform travelers in the public right of way.

Energy Efficient Street Light Testing in SLC, January 2010

Beginning July 1, 2009 a $27.50 fee will be assessed to all Traffic Control permits.

NOTICE: EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2009, REGULAR CITY PERMIT PARKING (CPP) PERMITS WILL COST $36.00 ANNUALLY. SEASONAL AND PARTIAL YEAR PERMITS WILL BE PRO-RATED BY THE QUARTER. THE COST INCREASE REFLECTS THE ACTUAL ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH OPERATING THE CPP PROGRAM.
