The following checklist provides a guideline in preparing
subdivision plats for approval through the Engineering Division of Salt Lake
City Community and Economic Development. The City Surveyor reviews all
plat submittals to determine if the format, plat drawing information, and survey
data meet the requirements presented in this checklist.
Sheet Format

Submit Mylar
plat sheet(s).

Sheet Size: 24" X 36"

Print Preference:
All capital
letters, 0.1 inch height (minimum size is 0.08 inch).

Title of the
Plat: Height of
at least 0.4 inches, located at the top of the sheet, including location by
Section, Township, Range, Base and Meridian

Title Block:
Standard title
block from Salt Lake City Engineering.

Vicinity Map
-
Surveyors Certificate,
Professional Stamp, and Signature.
-
Name, Address, Phone Number of
Firm Preparing Plat.
-
North Arrow: points to the top
or left of plat sheet and same direction as vicinity map; all labels, names,
and descriptions properly oriented with North Arrow.

Affidavits,
Jurats.
Plat Drawing Details
-
Plat Scale: minimum 1" = 100'.
-
Bearings and distances for boundary lines and lot lines.
-
Bearings and distances for right-of-ways and easements.
-
Lot size, number, blocks (if any), alleys, street name and number.
-
Street curve data, centerlines and/or monument lines.
-
Land to be dedicated to public use (greenbelts, common areas).
-
Boundary description.
Survey
Data
-
All monuments found, set,
re-set, replaced or removed, must be stated at each point, or in legend;
monument caps set by surveyor must be stamped with L.S. number of surveyor
and/or company name, designation and date.

Draw picture of brass caps
showing marked and stamped data for any existing monument and the monuments
to be set.
-
Show type of boundary markers
and lot markers used (No. 5, 5/8" diameter minimum); stamp cap with
surveyor's L.S. number and/or company name.

Cross reference all documents
on plat used to locate monuments, monument lines, and lines of
record.

Basis of bearing, including
sufficient data for retracing.

Show measured (M), or measured
and adjusted (M&A) horizontal ground distances.

Verification of boundary line
locations (City Surveyor will not accept or approve any plat which does not
show areas of confusion, if present)

Statement of accuracy with
minimum linear closure of 1:15,000.

Date of survey.
-
Survey tie to Section Corner,
¼ Corner, Land Corner of recorded subdivision, etc.
-
All measured bearings and
distances, with labels separately noted from those of record.
-
Description data agrees with
drawing data.
-
Description closes
mathematically within limits.

Surveyed intersections of new
streets (to be dedicated) and existing streets and ¼ section lines that
intersect; at least two (2) found and/or re-established monuments must be
shown on existing streets and/or section lines.

Whenever elevations are shown
on the plat an acceptable benchmark and datum is also noted.

Applicable
tax serial number (parcel ID number) - Salt Lake County Recorder's Office
recording requirements.
NOTE: When subdivision boundary corners have been set, please contact
the City Surveyor’s Office at 535-7973 for a field check.
