Commission (HLC) reviews all
applications for landmark sites, demolition
and new construction within
locally-designated historic districts.
They do not review
interior work or exterior paint
color, only exterior
alterations. The majority
of the projects presented
to the HLC are either
approved as submitted or
with modifications.

Salt Lake City Housing & Neighborhood Development Division

The Salt Lake City Housing Development Services offers loans for housing improvements at low interest rates. Investors, landlords and owner-occupants are eligible for lower than market rate loans. This division of the City's Housing and Neighborhood Development Division offers these services:
- Loans up to $20,000, with interest rates as low as 0 percent.
- Preparation of an assessment of a property's condition and value.
- Preparation of the description of the necessary work.
- Obtaining multiple bids from licensed and qualified contractors.
- Monitoring the home improvement project from start to finish.

The Small Business Revolving Loan Fund loans up to $100,000 to locally owned businesses in Salt Lake City, or those relocating to Salt Lake City, to foster commercial and industrial diversity by enhancing business opportunities, providing employment, and promoting neighborhood revitalization. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis for the following:
- Landscape/property improvements
- Façade building renovation
- Property acquisition
- Machinery/equipment
- Working capital
