Welcome to Capital Asset Management (CAM)
The Capital Asset Management
(CAM) group will focus on developing a citywide strategy for the
City’s capital assets in order to better serve the capital asset
needs of Salt Lake City residents and businesses. Some of the
highlights of this strategy will include using best practices in
coordinating the resources at our disposal to guide large
capital projects through the development process, and improving
the procedure used to assess and rank capital projects, as well
as the acquisition, management and disposal of the City’s real
property and facilities.
Capital Asset Projects - CAP
Salt Lake City’s
Capital
Asset Project (CAP) Program is an orderly, transparent course of
action to address proposed capital asset projects through the
City’s organization and identify potential methods to finance
the objectives of the proposal within the City's funding
resources. A set program to manage capital asset projects
enables the City to coordinate, and prioritize based upon needs,
all proposed capital asset projects to ensure the projects meet
both the short and long-term needs of the City. An effective
Capital Asset Project Program requires an annual review, ranking
and monitoring by the City and the Community to avoid out-dated
emphasis and misdirection of effort.
Property Management
The Property Management
section of Capital Asset Management provides real estate related
services to the various city departments. General services
offered include the acquisition and disposition of real
property, the asset management of the city’s real estate
portfolio, land development services for City projects, and due
diligence research including appraisals, environmental reports,
title reports, and market data. As part of the asset management
function, Property Management specifically permits the private
use of City owned right-of way, facilities, parks, and open
space through either lease, permit or registration.
