Planning Commission

The Salt Lake City Planning Commission adopts and acts on any changes to the City’s master plans, redevelopment plans, special studies, zoning ordinances, and use district maps. The Board also approves planned unit developments, conditional uses and certain subdivisions.

Powers and duties

Adopt and acts on changes to the City’s master plans
Considers and makes recommendations on City’s zoning and zoning ordinance changes
Approves planned unit developments and subdivisions
Considers and makes rulings on conditional uses

Member qualifications

Eleven members serve on the Salt Lake City Planning Commission. The Commission is
comprised of members with expertise in banking, development, contracting, engineering, geology and seismology, law, ecology, the behavioral sciences, historical preservation, architecture and landscape architecture. The Mayor, City Engineer, City Transportation Engineer and Building Official, or their designees, serve as ex-officio members to the commission.
