Housing Advisory and Appeals Board (HAAB)

The Housing Advisory and Appeals Board seeks to improve housing and neighborhood
conditions throughout the City by providing recommendations to the Mayor and City Council. The board also hears and decides appeals regarding deficiencies from housing inspections. All demolitions and landscape waivers, not in an historic district, must be approved by this board.

Powers and duties

Decide appeals of housing inspections
Approve demolition requests not in historic districts
Conduct housing impact and landscape hearings
Recommend new procedures and ordinances regarding housing to City Council

Member qualifications

The Mayor and City Council aim to provide a balance of geographical, professional,
neighborhood, and community representation when appointing members to the Housing Advisory and Appeals Board. There are ten members, each serving a four-year term. Each member may serve up to two full terms.
