Bocce Ball at Living Traditions
Bocce is a precision sport closely related to bowls and pétanque with a common ancestry from ancient games played in the Roman Empire and as far back as ancient Egypt. Developed into its present form in Italy, it is played around Europe and also in overseas countries with Italian immigrants, including Australia, North America and South America.
This ancient game, whose modern adaptation most closely resembles bowling, requires skill, strategy and just a little luck. Members of the Utah Bocce Association set up the courts at Living Traditions and provide instruction in the game throughout the festival.
The bocce ball courts are located on the northwest lawn of the Salt Lake City & County Building.
